Question by Brkyjo: Is there a dandruff shampoo or remedy that won’t cause hair loss?
i head that selsum blue and head and shoulders cause hair loss and i was wondering if there is any shampoo that doesn’t cause hair loss. i also read somewhere that adding tea tree oil to normal shampoo works well. is this true? would dove or paul mitchell work?

Best answer:

Answer by AskAbby
Yes!!
I was worried about this exact same problem, and I never have used selsun blue because my dad used it and suffered hair loss.
use Aveda, the Scalp Remedy kind.
I went to an expensive hair salon in New york and they offered this to me. I used the shampoo and conditioner, and i wasn’t sure about it, but it really works well.
After I shampoo/condition, and i’m done showering, I use another solution also by aveda scalp remedy; it’s called:
Aveda scalp remedy dandruff solution spray.
I now no longer have dandruff, and I don’t always have to wear hats or tie back my hair so that no one sees it!
My hair is actually softer now, and it comes out thicker; it doesnt fall out as easily because this shampoo not only takes away dandruff, but it enhances your roots!
Good luck!
PS: aveda is a bit pricey but it works very well,i’ll assure you that.

Question by Queen: Is there a way to lose weight while taking steroids for medical reasons?
I have had alopecia areata for about 12 years and whenever an episode occurs, the doctor gives me steroid shots to stimulate the hair growth back. The down side is that the steroids blow me up. I work out and eat healthy, but doesn’t seem to help me.

Best answer:

Answer by J B
This is a very hard one. Steroids increase your appetite and it is hard to fight this. Trying to eat healthy foods is your only way to prevent weight gain while taking steroids.

Question by ev: Has anyone out there ever taken or is currently on Propecia?
I am only 21 yearsold and started noticing thinning of my hair back last summer. I was also on a 6 month course of accutance which can cause hairloss but the actual thinning did start before i ever took the drug, and my mom’s side of the family has considerable hairloss so it’s most likely genetic. Anyway, is there anyone out there who is currently on propecia or has been and if so does it actually work? How long does one need to be on the medication for? Did you expierience any side effects etc? any information would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Best answer:

Answer by knowerofallthings
side effects vary from person to person and you MAY or MAY NOT experience erectile dysfunction, impotence, low libido and gynecomestica. ( a low percentage of males will experience most of these)

Personally I have been taking them for about 4 weeks now and havent seen ANY undesirable changes at all, on the other hand, the rate at which my hair is falling out has decreased significantly so there you go.

I would recommend (speak to your doctor first though) to take a blood test and check for the following: Cu, Fe, Zn and Vit D, Vit D deficiency can worsen genetic hair loss, check them and u may have to take supplements if you’re deficient in them, you are what you eat become especially true when hair loss is concerned, anyway the point is that the deficiencies in certain minerals may be why you’re losing hair quickly..

Propecia works by blocking the DHT hormones that causes genetic hair loss, so the moment u stop taking it, the hormones are produced again and hair loss starts again

lastly, dont style your hair as often, product build up also causes hair loss

In summary, propecia in my opinion seems to do the trick (I take proscar and cut the tablet into 4 pieces, works out a LOT cheaper), …

Serendipity

Response
tattoos are not permanent. But in my living room, can be dyed every month? Is there is absolutely no hair dye to join? Also, you can use a pencil. You may want to tattoo with a shade of brown it very clear what is not very noticeable when hair grows back? Not sure Id see what they have stopped working. Maybe not in a local spa that does permanent makeup and see what they offer the least possible compromise.

Question by angm43: Is there an natural, effective way to stop women’s hair loss?
Even if hair loss is hereditary, aside from all the snake oil online, is there a way to stop the hair loss? I am devastated going in public and embarrassed to go for a hair trim, especially when they wet my hair and I look so horrible. Has anyone tried anything that actually does help?

Best answer:

Answer by zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
This depends on your age and the cause. There are quite a few causes. You should go to an endocrinologist and see if it’s hormonal. You can look into hair transplantation. Other than that there is no way to regain what hormones caused you to loose.
