Question by Sir_J: If DHT is blocked, would I be able to see loss of unwanted body hair?
I am currently using Propecia (Finasteride 1mg) for Alopecia. I’ve been taking it for the past 2 and a half years with no negative side effects. I am very hairy and somehow I feel I have been experiencing some thinning of hair on my shoulders and below my neck. I hope it keeps thinning the rest of my shoulders’ hairs and my back! I read somewhere that DHT stimulates hair loss on the top of the head and the increase of body hair.

Question by A B: How can i get on finasteride or minoxidil at age 17 for hair loss?
I just turned 17 ten days ago and i noticed my hair line is thinning. My hair is thinning in the two corners of my hair line. My father went bald really early. I looked at his hair and I don’t believe we have Alopecia or anything like that. like, his hair line recedes and makes that “M” shape.

What can I do to stop it and have my hairline again?

At walgreens they have stuff in the shampoo aisle, for men and women. I dont think you have to be over 18 to buy it.

I have alopecia areata and it is also said that a cause could be stress. I don’t feel like I am stressed but I am a really impatient person and get frustrated when something doesn’t get done. I dont know if it is a sign of stress but… what do you guys think?

they are telling you it could be stress not that it is. there is no real cause of that type of hair loss.

You should go and see a doctor and ask for a skin specialist there, I reckon you could have gotten skin mites sleeping in hotels or on planes. Water is from a very good quality except perhaps Amsterdam, Rotterdam or other big towns where they have cheaper water, you taste that immediately. In fact the water is better or equal to bottled water. You mentioned increasing dandruff, maybe it is a result of stress. Most hair will grow back on. These problems are a fair reason to attend your doctor anyway.

Im doing my deb with my boyfriend in the next few months and although it doesnt make me think any different of him and im not trying to impress my friends or anything I would like to adjust my boyfriends hair in some way just for the night because of his hairloss…
I want him to feel as confident as i am going to feel on the night… he usually wears a hat all the time but he wont be allowed too at the deb and he is gunna crumble up inside, i can see it when he takes his hat off, he hates it!
does anyone have any ideas on how i can fix this for the night, like ways to style his hair or put some sort of extension in…?
his baldness in on the top, so he has hair every where but it is extreamly thin and almost non existant on the top. he has dark brown hair.
Any suggestions are welcomed! Pictures would be great!!

try some volumising creams or laser hair growth treatments. I don’t think it takes long, and its a long term colution.

My cousin lost her hair a few years ago to alopecia areata, and I’d like to chop my long hair off to give to her. Is there any way I can get a wig made from my hair without having to mix it with anyone else’s?

I’m looking to have a hair transplant some time this year. I lost my hair from wearing hair weaves and from stress. I’ve been applying medication prescribed by my dermatologist but its not working. I’ve also had steroid injections and those were not working all that great. I have dents in my head. I’ve been doing this for eight months.. I have areata alopecia in two spots at the top of my head. I’m seriously considering the surgery.

You should get it if you feel it’s taking a bite out of your self esteem. I am thinking of getting it myself. I’m not 100% sure as it is very expensive. Get it though if you feel like it would make you happy. Don’t allow anything to keep you down. Good mental health shouldn’t have any limitations.

My boyfriend and I both have autoimmune diseases, if at some point we ever decided to have a child together how likely would the baby be to also have an autoimmune disease? By the way I have SLE and he has alopecia.

Since they’re different, probably a 1 in 4 chance for the baby to get either one.
